EDLD 5363 - Week 2 Assignment - Video Editing Software
For this week's assignment, I looked at 2 different types of video editing software. One was Windows Movie Maker, which I had used previously. Granted, it has been about 4 years when I made a movie of pictures for my wedding, but I remember liking it. The other video editing software I looked into was VirtualDub. I found it to be not as user friendly and it only took AVI files. Therefore, I went with using Windows Movie Maker this week. Just like I remembered, it was easy to use and manipulate. This got me thinking about how I could use Windows Movie Maker in my new marketing classes. "Integrating media production in your curriculumn can help you find new access to students and help them find new access to the material. Media engages and excites; it leads to unexpected discoveries, increased self awareness and esteem, sharpened critical thinking, analytical skills, group work skills and the ability to communicate ideas." (Garrison, 1999) I am pretty sure the majority of my students have never used this program but I know that this issue will be easy to solve with my small class sizes. Once the basics are learned, I'm sure they will start collaborating and creating from there. Garrison, A. (1999,Winter). Video basics and production projects for the classroom.
