EDLD 5301-Research-Week 3 Assignment

Action Research Plan 1. Examining the Work In what ways does implementing keyboarding at the primary level benefit students? 2. Analyzing Data Data will be looked at by using qualitative analysis, quantitative anaylsis and field notes. 3. Developing Deeper Understanding To further my data collection, I will gather a focus group consisting of primary and secondary teachers. A wikispace will be used to stem ideas and collaboration outside of a formal meeting setting. 4. Engaging in Self-Reflection A blog will be used to keep a journal of research and its results. 5. Exploring Programmatic Problems "Look at what is happening in each pattern and how the patterns related to each other." (Dana 2009) 6. Determining Direction I will collaborate with my site supervisor, focus group, and colleagues. 7. Taking Action for School Improvement I will use the SIP to guide my research development. 8. Looks like we are passionate about the same topic! I totally agree with you. Unfortunately, the keyboarding TEKS at the elementary level are not being mastered in my district and it is so sad, especially for the kids. I see so many students at the high school level that get so frustrated when they are typing an assignment (due to their lack of keyboarding skills) that many of them just give up. Hopefully our research will make others see how important it is for our kids to have adequate keyboarding skills. Keep me posted on your research.
